Is there any ingredient, cure, or product that can treat hair fall, baldness, premature greying, dandruff, flakiness, split ends, and itchy scalp? Well, my beautiful people, there is! The answer to all your problems is KESHRAJ. In this article, we'll learn about Keshraj or Bhringraj and prepare an oil with it which gave me and my subscribers great results. Keshraj, also known as Bhringraj and Kesaranjan in Ayurveda and False Daisy in English, is a potent ingredient that can cure all hair-related problems. In Ayurveda, Keshraj is an herb that is so potent that it can alone treat multiple hair issues. This herb vitalizes your hair and gives it the power to heal healthily. These days surroundings are polluted, and we get negligent with our hair care. The damage happens till the time we realize it. But it's never too late (Keshraj enters the chat!) This herb can promote hair growth, prevent hair fall, treat dandruff and dry scalp, treat scalp infection, and nourish the hair. Keshraj or Bhringraj has anti-inflammatory properties, which keep the scalp healthy and away from inflammation. These are just a few benefits of this enchanting herb. Keshraj, also known as bhringraj, works beyond just haircare. It helps in soothing inflamed skin as well! Bhringraj can relieve headaches, promote muscle relaxation and help you sleep better. This herb is an all-in-one player! For this remedy, we are preparing an oil with our star ingredient - Keshraj. You can use this oil as a prevention against various hair problems as well(prevention is better than cure!). Ingredients: Keshraj/Bhringranj powder Amla powder Light oil (coconut oil, olive oil, sesame oil, or argon oil) NOTE:  If you are sceptical of any ingredients, please do a patch test first. These ingredients do not have any side effects. Preparation: STEP 1:  Take a pan and pre-heat it on low flame. STEP 2: Now, add 200 ml of the oil of your liking. It can be coconut oil, argon oil, olive oil, or sesame oil. We are not taking heavy oil because a lighter infusion gives the best results. Coconut oil is simply available in the market, and infusion happens best in coconut oil. There is one drawback with coconut oil, and that is it freezes in winter. I suggest using sesame oil (especially for winter). Sesame oil has hair-darkening properties, which prevent premature greying of hair. It also prevents head lice and dandruff. Sesame oil also works as a sunscreen for your hair. It protects your hair from the harmful UV rays of the sun. STEP 3:  After the oil is heated, add one tablespoon of keshraj/bhringraj powder. Keshraj powder is easily available in grocery stores. If not, you can order it online. STEP 4: Add one tablespoon of Amla powder. Amla powder is also available the grocery stores. Mix the ingredients well with the oil. Let the oil simmer for 7-10 min. Remember, do not turn up the heat even a bit because dried ingredients can burn quickly, it will ruin this magical oil. STEP 5: Use a clean cloth to strain the oil in a container. Use a glass container so that you can put it out in the sun for sun infusion. If using a plastic container, please do not keep it in the sun. It can ruin the oil. Alternative: If you do not have keshraj/bhringraj or amla in powdered form instead, these herbs are available in the dried leafy form, then use this alternate method. Take sesame oil in a glass container. Add one tablespoon of dried keshraj/bhringraj and dried amla or dried amla leaves to the oil. The ingredients are infused in the oil for one week. Keep the container in the sun for infusion. If you do not get sufficient sun in your area, go for the double boiler method for one week. Your remedy for all hair problems is ready! Application: Apply this oil for 1-2 hours before washing your hair. You can apply it overnight if comfortable. You should use this hair oil before each head washes for the best results. Many people go for options like keratin treatments, hair spas, and many other hair treatments, which are not just heavy on the pockets but these treatments are also harmful to the scalp. Another option is using hair serums and sprays, which are available in the market, but a 200ml bottle will cost you approximately 500 - 700 rupees. Is there another way? YES, THERE IS! You might be surprised, but you can get the benefits of hair spas, keratin treatments, and fancy hair serums with a DIY product! Wondering what this too-good-to-be-true DIY product is? It is a simple yet super magical hair mist. This hair mist will not only help you with damaged, dry hair but will also help fight dandruff, itchiness, and stickiness in the scalp. Table of Contents: Ingredients Preparation Application Q/A Conclusion Ingredients: Let's start by gathering the ingredients. Every ingredient required to make this hair mist is easily available. These are - rose water, glycerine, argon oil, and aloe vera gel. If you are uncomfortable with any ingredient, do not worry, I'll also share substitutes. 1]. Rose Water: You can use distilled water (drinking water) as a substitute for rose water. You might not get the sweet fragrance in your mist, but if you are allergic, then avoid this ingredient. 2]. Glycerine: Glycerine belongs to the hyaluronic family, which you must have noticed as one of the key ingredients in many skincare and haircare products. Glycerine is an economical option that will lock the moisture of your hair and prevent frizziness. You cannot use glycerine by itself because it has a sticky consistency. Using it in a blend will give you all the positive advantages without stickiness. 3]. Argon Oil: Argon oil is the most expensive one out of all. So, if you are looking for its replacement, you can use vitamin E oil or oil that is not sticky (except for coconut oil). Or, if you are already using a hair serum, you can take that. I suggest using argon oil because the shine, moisture, and benefits of serum this oil can provide are hard to find anywhere else. 4]. Aloe Vera Gel: Next, if you are uncomfortable with aloe vera gel, use flaxseed gel instead. I will warn you that flaxseed gel will require much blending compared to aloe vera gel. Preparation: Now that all the ingredients are in place let's dive right into the process. STEP 1: Take a full cup of rose water and add it to a bowl. One cup is a lot. So if you are short of rose water, you can mix distilled water (drinking water) to cover up the difference. Rose or distilled water will avoid the extra accumulation of unwanted substances found in unfiltered water. STEP 2: Now, add one teaspoon of glycerine to the water. STEP 3: Add one teaspoon of argon oil to the mix. If you are using any substitute, add one teaspoon of that ingredient. As I have mentioned before, argon oil will give your hair the lustre and moisture it needs. STEP 4: Lastly, add one teaspoon of aloe vera gel. If you are using flaxseed gel, add one tablespoon of it. Aloe vera gel blends better than flaxseed gel. But, if you are allergic to aloe vera or if it does not suit you, avoid using it and go for flaxseed gel. STEP 5: Now it's time to whisk and mix all the ingredients well! You will be pleasantly surprised to see the final result. It will be a beautiful, glittery product with a mesmerizing fragrance (thanks to rose water and argon oil!). Once your hair mist is ready, transfer it to a spray bottle. This mist will be approximately 200-300ml, prepared for less than 200 rupees! Isn't it amazing? Application: Spray this mist on wet hair immediately after bathing, and you are good to go! This spray will keep your hair frizz-free and manageable for the entire day. Well, let me assure you that the remedies do not hold any grudges against you. And there are no biases involved, so relax. So what is the reason behind a remedy not working for you? Do not worry, in this detailed article, you'll get answers to all your questions. So, read the entire article carefully to understand the reasons and the remedial actions. But sometimes, these cuticles get blocked when we give our hair the wrong treatments. As a result, these coils remain strangers to any remedy we provide externally. So what should we do? We should focus on removing the deposition from cuticles so that whatever treatment we provide reaches the inner coil of the hair. Hair Porosity: To begin, you need to understand your hair porosity. There are three types : 1]. Low Porosity: Closely spaced cuticles are a sign of low porosity. 2]. Medium/Normal Porosity: Less firmly bonded cuticles are a sign of medium porosity. 3]. High Porosity: More widely spaced cuticles are a sign of high porosity. I am now sharing 5 remedial actions you can take to remove the deposition from your cuticles and give your hair the nourishment it needs. Remedy 1: Soaking Your Hair In Lukewarm Water Take a container full of lukewarm water and soak your hair. We often tend to get careless while shampooing our hair. When you wash your hair under the shower, or even if you use a bucket, it is not a 100% surety that all the dirt and shampoo will get washed away. The remainder of the shampoo will deposit on the cuticles leading to hair damage. By dipping or soaking your hair in lukewarm water, all the deposition will wash away. Do this process once every 15 days. Remedy 2: Magical Oil To start this remedy, you need a carrier oil, whichever you are comfortable with. You can take coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, or any light oil of your liking. Next, you need an essential oil (lavender, sage, thyme, or tea tree oil). Take a container and add approximately two big tablespoons of carrier oil. Add 7-8 drops of essential oil to it (this oil will be POTENT!). Mix it well and massage it on the scalp and the lengths. These essential oils can break down the depositions, and when you wash your hair, they will melt away. Do this remedy once every 15 days. Note: Essential oils are soothing but do not get addicted to them. If you are doing the remedy, use it once every 15 days. In other scenarios, use the essential oils only once a month. Remedy: 3 - Take a Break During the COVID-19 lockdown, Ganga River was its cleanest self without doing anything. Before that, there were many action plans (Ganga Action Plan) to clean the holy river. All it took was no interference with the river to make it clean. So what did we learn from this? Our major takeaway was that sometimes taking a break and doing nothing can be the solution. It is exactly what you have to do for your hair, NOTHING! Take a break from any application for a while, and let your hair rest and heal. Wash your hair with a herbal shampoo. Light oiling will not do any harm but stay away from any strong applications. At first, it will feel a bit weird and uncomfortable, but then your hair will get disciplined. So if you do not want to rely on any other remedial action, you can go for this option. Remedy 4: Exercise and Fasting These two options are for balancing your hormones and curing any internal problems due to which your hair might suffer. Here, exercise does not mean the PT exercises you did in school. Do the exercises that will activate your sweat glands. You can do cardio, running, jogging, or any other that will get your heart pumping and activate your sweat glands. Next, you have to do fasting. Fasting will help remove all toxicity from your hair and your entire body. Your body will start eliminating all the toxins from the body. So exercise, take fasts to regulate your hormones, and remove toxins and all unwanted depositions from your body. Remedy 5: Using Clarifying Shampoos Once A Month Clarifying shampoos contain alcohol, fluoride, sodium, and lauryl sulfate. Are you shocked to see so many names of chemicals? These shampoos are so strong that they can remove any deposition from the hair. Once a month usage of these shampoos will not damage your hair. Still, if you do not use clarifying shampoos (at all), you can rinse your hair with diluted apple cider vinegar. Once every 15 days, after shampooing your hair, use diluted apple cider vinegar to rinse your hair. Apple cider vinegar does not let any deposition occur and removes the existing. Preventive Measures: Apart from taking these remedial actions, there are preventative measures you should take. Check the usage of all the products you use. Sometimes the packaging says the product should be used once or twice a week. We do not read the packaging and keep using the product daily. It can damage the hair. Never do two protein treatments simultaneously. Protein treatments are potent. So focus on one treatment at a time. Do not overwash or over-condition. Do not wash your hair more than thrice a week (unless doing a remedy). Get your hair trimmed by a stylist only. Why is this important? Let's assume your hair is in step-cutting. You did not get the time to go to a salon. You picked up a pair of scissors and trimmed your hair in U-style. It will make your spit ends move further upward. Do not hesitate to consult a dermatologist or trichologist. If DIY remedies are not working for you, do not keep running after them. Consult a doctor and get to the root of the cause.
